We’re always looking for interesting ways to get employees excited about their job!
This fall we started an employee wellness program, titled “ILEE Employee Wellness”, tying in our mission of improving lives and exceeding expectations. Our goal was to get people motivated in improving their physical, mental, and financial well-being…and what better way to do that than with a little friendly competition?
Our competition was BINGO. We sent out a BINGO card at the beginning of each week for four weeks. These BINGO cards included activities such as “exercise for 30 minutes three nights this week,” “drink 32 ounces of water every day,” “place flowers on an employee’s desk,” and “create a savings plan and stick to it.” At the end of each week, BINGO cards were collected by a designated ILEE Wellness Champion at each community. Every BINGO equaled one entry into two drawings.
The first drawing was facility wide. Each facility received a fitness tracker (similar to a Fitbit) to give to a Wellness participant in their facility. The second drawing was company-wide for the grand prize of a 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV.
We incorporated a Facebook group for employees to join, where they could complete BINGO squares by posting photos, sharing posts, interacting with one another, and had the opportunity to watch videos from Blue Cross Blue Shield for bonus entries.
During this event, we organized times where the local YMCAs went to facilities and offered Biometric Screenings for employees using their Blue Cross Blue Shield benefit. Participation in this event was rewarded with three bonus entries into the drawings.
On December 8, 2017 at 9:00 am, we drew for a TV live on the Facebook group. The winner was Cathy Hageman, the Dietary Manager at Derby Health & Rehabilitation. She has been an employee at Derby since 2010.
Of our 600+ employees throughout 11 communities, we had 101 participants from 10 communities, 664 total entries, and 81 members in the Facebook Group.
Thank you to all of the employees who participated in this ILEE Employee Wellness challenge, the ILEE Wellness Champions from each community who led the challenges, the local YMCAs, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Madison Osoba for implementing the Wellness program, and congratulations to Cathy Hageman for winning the grand prize!
We plan on creating more ILEE Employee Wellness challenges in 2018.
Our skilled nursing facilities have had a wonderful year, with four of the facilities we support achieving and maintaining 5-star ratings.
The Five-Star Quality Rating System used by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services measures three sources: health inspections, staffing, and quality measures (QMs) to build an overall score for each nursing home. Nursing Homes with 5 stars are considered to have much above average quality. You can view how the rating system works here.
Thank you to the team at Nottingham who continues to improve lives and exceed expectations.

The Wichita Business Journal released the list of 2017 honorees for their annual Best Places to Work program. Axiom Healthcare Services made the list of 40 Wichita companies whose employees have deemed a Best Place to Work.
As a company that takes their culture seriously, we are dedicated to making sure that our employees are satisfied with their job. When you work for Axiom, you have a family with us. The mission of our company and with the facilities we manage is "Improving Lives. Exceeding Expectations.", which we refer to as ILEE. We achieve ILEE through our 10 Guiding Virtues, some of which include: I build trusting and meaningful relationships, I embrace and inspire positive change, and I pursue growth and learning. We want our employees to grow and offer them opportunities to do so. We also offer Healthcare benefits, a 401K plan, Wellness program, discounts with a number of companies, a pet-friendly environment, volunteer opportunities, and we currently have other programs in the works.
Scoring for Best Places to Work took place through Quantum Workplace. A survey was sent to all employees and the results that were received determined the companies ranking.
We will be in attendance for the awards ceremony in December where there will be awards given in specific categories.
